Day 3: Wine, Goats and Slums

Day 3 was our day trip into the Wine Lands surrounding Cape Town. The area is truly beautiful: the weather feels a bit like San Diego, but the flora is exotic (as indicated by the photo from yesterday; today was much weirder stuff)

Not much time to do this post so here are some highlights:

Day 2: Arrival in Cape Town

After a lengthy series of plane rides (the word would really be "numbing" since given the 2 days of travel I remember only bits and pieces of it), we arrived in Cape Town. The descent on the plane was amazing, framing the city against the Table Mountain so that the contrast of city and mountain was elegantly juxtaposed.

The driver from the hotel met us at the arrival gate and we headed towards our Hotel. Gray, the greeter, gave us a quick history lesson (the Dutch, the English, “Jo-berg” aparthaid, etc.)

After crashing for a few hours, we headed out for the afternoon to take the cable cars up to the top of Table Mountain.
