The MacArthur Fellowship just announced their lastest Genius Awards. They get $500,000 to spend anyway they want to.

One of the recipients is Ned Kahn, who looks like someone who I want to meet. Some googling, and I found his studio's home page with awesome displays like the swirling vortex of fire. How friggin' cool is that?

That is the subject line of an e-mail from Carloline. She e-mailed to let me know that Frank passed away last Wednesday.
