Chapped nose

One of the less sexy things I left out of the PSP weekend was the fact that I went off my allergy medication. I was on Zyrtec and it was costing me $40 a month (sucky health coverage) so I figured I would try Claratin D, a medication that I tried and abandoned. What the hell -- $5 versus $40 seemed like a good risk.

Wrong.

So I went off and within hours of arriving in Palm Springs, started sneezing, sniffling and otherwise being miserable. It sucked. Walgreens, being the great chain that it is, would fill the prescription for me, but alas, there were no refills left. So I loaded up on over the counter drugs and other meds.

Why am I writing about it now, on this rainy hump day? Well, my nose is now flaky from all the blowing. It looks like there is perma-crust around it, like I don't know how to wipe all the snot off. I have lubed up my nose to try to keep the flaking to a minimum. Let me tell you, rubbing lotion into your nose is definitely a weird experience.

Post Script.
M. has a cold out in PSP. Maybe the allergy fit was really a cold.

Palms Springs Weekend!

Sounds like a porn movie or one of those jigglefest movies like Hot Dog, The Movie or Tomb Raider but sad to report, it was just a low key weekend. There was some gratuitous nudity -- I did scamper around our backyard sans underwear. Because I could, really. I mean, what's the point of having 10 foot high fichus hedges if isn't so you can sun your buns?

We laid low, me mostly vegging out trying not to eat too many cinnamon rolls (one of my true weaknesses) and M. lining up all the contractors this week. I am back at my desk, working on that work stuff, while M. is figuring out how to spiff up the place. Right now, we are down to: windows, floor, bathrooms and kitchen. I have to say that I am indeed much more picky than I used to be, which I guess is a good thing. Details I never would have noticed (or cared about) like non-parallel drawer edges or 1/2 inch gaps between appliances sticks out to me.

Now why is it my desk is a catastrophe?
