Day 4 and 5
The weather here is amazing and the fact that there is such a wide diversity of life out here. Not much time before dinner, but here are a few shots.
- A hoity-toity beach: Camps Bay
- Another shot of Camps Bay Beach
- Cape Town Architecture:old and new
- One of the bays on the way to Cape of Good Hope
- Baboon on Cape of Good Hope
- Me, looking surly (but not really being surly) on the Cape of Good Hope
- One Spectacular view (looking down) on Cape of Good Hope
- Another View of Cape of Good Hope
- Penguins
- Just one image of the amazing flora - I have lots more but will force, ahem, share, them later.

Some randoms comments on these pictures and their captions:
*First of all, the mere technological fact of these pictures blows me away. You didn't have to wait to go home and bring them to Walmarts to have creepy Robin Williams develop them and invite everyone over to dinner and show them to us on the slide projector or pass them around during dessert! You're still in South Africa! And we're not!
*You're still in South Africa! And we're not! You are not connected to us by the Ethernet, but by the Envy-net. I got up at 7am to grade exams and I will be giving an extra session to these same students at 7pm tonight and the big event of the afternoon was getting into a conversation with the fellow who runs the comic book store (despite the stereotype, he is quite thin and rather sexy in a Steve-Buscemian way), and meanwhile you are seeing beautiful flowers and scaling great heights, and the penguins!
*Isn't "surly" a funny word? Surly surly surly surly. Surly you jest. Surly to bed, and surly to rise. This election is between the girlie-men and the surly-men.
*Where are pictures of all the handsome men you and The Palm Springer should be meeting, or at any rate getting within zoom-lens distance of?
*And will I have to change your banded beau's web alias to The Palm Springbok after this trip?
*And yet Patitos can see why it is tempting to take a Mapplethorpian vacation from savage lust to photograph the perfection of flowers. They are mighty purty.
*mighty purty mighty purty surly shirty burly thirty hurly burly dirty purty flirty thirty! Squirty!
*Patitos foresees a rather groggy language class in about a half-hour. Groggy soggy springbok bloggy!
