College (the Dream)

I was at college with Jake (M.'s Nephew) at a big school. We were roommates in a fraternity house / dorm, where we inhereted a lot of stuff.

The room was half decorated with junk, covered with sloppy beer posters and posters for events with a woman with huge lopsided breasts, drawn in a cartoon style.

There was a shelf above my bed, and it had all sorts of poloroid type photographs on it. They looked like there were from the 70s, some black and white, some color. The shapes were not all square but instead wide and squat or tall and thin. Some were just of numbers and personal information, like Jack Smith, Class of 79 XXX any street etc. but others were of smilling faces, but it was like they swirled away -- only the face but no hair, no neck. Some had the face and numbers super imposed over it.

Also on the shelf were four different jock straps, which I figured was frat guys dealing with a gay guy in their dorm. I didn't feel particularly threatened but I didn't feel particularly welcome either -- I figured they just didn't understand that I was gay.

There was the house cat, Muggles, wandering around. It was a small black and grey long haired cat.

We were next to the House mainroom, which is where all the parties would take place.

At one point, Jake asked me if I had AIDS. The question was more curious than anything else. I answered no. He then asked, Did you have it back in Chicago. I said no. I was kinda surprised that he didn't understand how AIDS worked. Jake was taking 5 courses that term, one of which was Advanced MESA, which is an Open GL implementation / Language. I thought it was very sophisticated for him to be studying.

I got back my first paper, and I got a 69. I was humiliated because it was from my old teacher in high school that loved me. I didn't understand what about it was so bad. I was fixated throughout the dream to figure out and meet with her for the reasons but I never got a chance.

Another class was a cooking (?) class where I had to make chocolate milk. Since I don't drink milk and don't like chocolate, I had two other lab partners and were making stawberry rice milk but there was no strawberry Quik. So I went downstairs (there was a "pantry" for the class on the first floor) to find the Straberry quik. I couldn't find it, but the instructor said to use coconut instead.

[This was softly edited from notes I took the morning after, a couple of weeks ago.]
