I am the least well connected

In my class, we did an exercise. Take 100 numbers randomly out of a phone book -- then have the subject circile all names you know. I know Elsie Liew from work, so I circle Liew. This exercise is a rough index of how well connected you are -- the more names you circle, the more you know. I knew 16. Out of my class of 50, no one had a lower score.

It was a weird shock -- I have always fancied myself as a reasonably well connected person. Someone who knew the right person to get something done and really usefull in situations where a big network was important. Time to do a re-examination.
